Often, visitors just pass by your site, taking only a fleeting interest in it. Is it because you haven’t targeted your users properly (or that your acquisition levers are not the right ones?) That the information hard to find? That your design not striking enough to retain the user? These are all questions that can lead you to think about the user experience (UX) on your site (or your future site).

Know your users for an optimized UX

The first step, and not the least, is to know your users. For this, it is possible to use the personas technique. To consolidate your knowledge about them, it may also be desirable to ask them questions directly (via an online questionnaire, for example). You can also use the collected data to get a better idea of them and their expectations. Implementing a UX (User Experience) strategy requires putting yourself in the shoes of the users. And how to imagine this strategy, if you don’t know them? Tools and methods exist, so use them!

This knowledge of the users will allow you to adapt your site to them. It will also allow you to find the optimal acquisition channels to avoid a too high bounce rate. Putting yourself in the user’s shoes is the key to obtaining an architecture that works on your site as well as on your entire digital presence.

Information, easily

By knowing your users, you know what information they are likely to be looking for. The path to it should be as simple as possible. Your visitors should not have to make more than three clicks from their arrival on your site to the information they are looking for. Beyond that, the risks of them leaving your site increase considerably.

Moreover, loading times must be reduced to a minimum. Within three seconds, the user has the impression of wasting his time. They are then likely to leave. This is also in line with Google’s recommendations, so low loading times are also good for your SEO. Once the page is loaded, everything happens in the first thirty seconds. So, you must be punchy…

The weight of words, the shock of photos!

It is thanks to the knowledge acquired by your users (or your target) that you will find the right words. It is also important that the images were chosen to complement, or even clarify, your message. Indeed, many people will only visually browse your site in the first thirty seconds. Once they know more about you (and have found the information they are looking for) then maybe they will design to read your different texts further. In addition, your design should not be out of sync with your users and their habits.
